About Robin

Robin

I started having lessons in 2001, having suffered from a prolapsed disc two years earlier.  After six months of physiotherapy following laser surgery I was becoming increasingly depressed by the discomfort, pain and lack of progress.  My physiotherapist suggested I try the Alexander Technique.

The improvement after just six lessons was astonishing – the tension in my back was melting away, I could sit in comfort and I felt happier and at ease with life.  It was through the Alexander Technique that I discovered how my long-standing habits had contributed to my back injury and how the pain had knotted the muscles in my back with tension.  I began to learn how to take responsibility for my own health and well-being and to see a future without pain.

I was so inspired by the positive effects of the Alexander Technique on my health and well being that I persuaded my employers, the Inland Revenue, to let me undertake the three-year teacher training course at the Manchester Alexander Technique Training School.

My teaching practice is based in Saddleworth: I teach one-to-one lessons and small groups in Uppermill and Manchester.
